Happy Halloween Party

Today is Emma's Halloween party at "school." So, of course we snapped some pictures before she left.  Since we aren't huge Halloween folks, I got a kick out of dressing her up for a holiday she doesn't really even have a clue exists!

As for her outfit, I made it using Jackie Clark's Bloomers and Britches pattern (a must have).  The t-shirt is just from Old Navy and the embroidery design is from www.embroidery-boutique.com. Or, you can find the patch and pumpkin here if you want it!

Stadium Cake Anyone?

We decided to keep our tailgate close to home for the UA vs. South Carolina game.  For the record, "close to home" means, well, my living room. We enjoyed pizza, some good friends, and another victory.  Oh, and for dessert?  We cut into this delectable treat:

Where did I come across such a magnificent confectionary creation?  Jason's cousin, Catherine (aka Aunt Cece) made it for us. Isn't it amazing?  We certainly enjoyed it---and are looking forward to her next masterpiece!!  Thanks Aunt Cece!!

Please don't be mistaken though, while Spurrier's Gamecocks might not have posed a significant enough threat to warrant 4 hours in 30 degree weather the night before Jason left town, this Saturday we will return to our stadium seats and split our cheers between Roll Tides and Down with Rocky Top.  I HATE ORANGE!! RTR!!

Tootles!

Is This On Your DVR?

It should be.
Wednesdays at 8. ABC.
Watch it. Hilarity will ensue.

P.S. My apologies for the recent "blogging hiatus." I'd like to say that I have a good excuse-but not really. Just some exciting news I'll be back to share soon!

Confessions

I listen to music while I drive.  When I'm alone, I listen to it LOUDLY.  If it is a fun song, I think it helps me unwind and enjoy the moment.  If the song has a deeply profound meaning, I am hopeful the volume will better cement the message into my brain.  Today, I turned up this song and replayed it over and over again.  It is "The Good Confession" by Andrew Peterson.  If you are not familiar with his work, all his albums are WELL worth your time and money.  Incidentally, this poetry is off his Resurrection Letters Vol. II album.

I was a boy

just nine years old

I heard the call and came.

They buried me beneath the water

then I rose again.

Well

you know my dad was a preacher man.

I walked the aisle and I took his hand.

He said

“Son just do the best you can

and say the words

‘I believe he is the Christ

the Son of the living God.”

Through the years I barely fell;

I mostly dove right in.

I drank so deep from the shallow

well only to thirst again.

Well I sang the hymns at the summer camp

then I rocked and rolled with a lousy band

till I heard a song that took my hand and led me home.

And I believe he is the Christ

Son of the living God.

All I know is that I was blind

but now I see that though I kick and scream

Love is leading me.

And every step of the way his grace is making me;

with every breath I breathe

he is saving me.

And I believe.

So when my body’s weak and the day is long

when I feel my faith is all but gone

I’ll remember when I sing this song that I believe.

I believe he is the Christ

Son of the living God

my Lord my Savior.

Oh hosanna I believe.

The picture? Too precious not to post.
